Penetration Systems

FyreBOARD Maxilite® offers a comprehensive board solution for closing down large openings around service penetrations for electrical, mechanical, and plumbing services and has been approved for fire ratings of up to 240mins (service dependent) to AS1530.4-2014.

Top of Slab Box Out

A Maxilite "box" constructed on the TOP SIDE of a floor around a complicated and/or defective penetration, to allow the services to be sealed where they exit the enclosure.
NEW

Under Slab Box Out

A Maxilite "box" constructed on the UNDERSIDE side of a floor around a complicated and/or defective penetration, to allow the services to be sealed where they exit the enclosure.

Horizontal Bulkhead

A 2 or 3-sided false ceiling to form a cavity that encloses or 'boxes-out' services from one fire compartment (eg services in fire escapes). These are technically ceilings under AS1530.4 and require RISF ratings.

Fire Damper Upgrade System

Often fire dampers are installed into openings that are too large to install correctly, so FyreBOARD Maxilite® has been approved for use to pack out the gaps around mechanical and intumescent fire dampers in walls and floors, in accordance with AS1530.4-2014.

Steel Protection

FyreBOARD Maxilite® is a lightweight high-performance fire-rated board available in 30mm, 40mm and 60mm thicknesses for use in fire protection for a large range of structural steel sizes and types for up to 4 hours of protection.

Concrete Slab Upgrades

Where concrete slabs, walls, or beams are poured too thin or don’t have enough cover over reo-bars to comply with AS3600 requirements for fire design, FyreBOARD Maxilite® provides a lightweight board option that is perfect for upgrading these non-compliant concrete structures, without adding lots of weight compared with spray and plasterboard systems.

Floor or Deck Boxes, and Cast-In Conduits

FyreBOARD Maxilite® has been approved for use as a compliant penetration system to fix to the soffit of a concrete slab to protect services that feed into floor-mounted switch boxes, such are commonplace in board-rooms and schools. This system also provides a compliant system to seal PVC conduits that are cast into the concrete floor and exit through the soffit of the slab.

Ceilings

Horizontal fire barrier installed below a floor or under a roof. Maxilite can be used as a 1-way or a 2-way FRL ceiling system with RISF ratings to protect ceiling cavities.

Access Panels for Ceilings and Bulkheads

FyreBOARD Maxilite Access Panels redefine the integration of fire safety solutions within bulkhead constructions, blending superior fire resistance with versatile design and installation options. Engineered for performance and designed to meet the exacting standards of your project, these panels offer a sophisticated solution to fire safety challenges.

Related Systems

Duct protection, walls, shafts and vertical bulkhead applications require separate fire testing to AS1530.4. The following systems are tested specifically for these applications:

Vertical Bulkhead

A 1, 2, 3 or 4-sided barrier used to form a fire rated shaft or 'riser' allowing for the passage of services from floor to floor. These are technically walls under AS1530.4.

Ducts

NOTE: SYSTEMS TESTED FOR AIR DUCTS MUST NOT BE USED FOR BULKHEAD OR BOX OUT APPLICATIONS AS THEY HAVE NO AIR-FLOW IN PRACTICE! (DUCTS protection systems are fire-tested with AIR-FLOW at lm/s during a fire test as per AS1530.4, Section 9).

What is it?

Three sheets of FyreBOARD Maxilite Fire Rated Board

FyreBOARD Maxilite is a lightweight, high-performance fire-rated board. Maxilite is a calcium silicate-based board and is bonded together with non-organic binders. It is completely free from asbestos, volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), and ozone-depleting potential (ODP). Maxilite is an extremely effective insulating refractory board, that is stable under high-temperature stress and remains strong and free of cracks, even when exposed to fully developed fires.

Due to the lightweight construction of the board, Maxilite is easy to handle and work with, ensuring quick onsite installation, whilst retaining suitable fire performance. Maxilite’s high fire performance ensures minimal thicknesses are required, hence less material usage and cost.
