SuperSTOPPER Slab-Mount | Case Study

Building with scaffolding

Trafalgar Fire are committed to partnering with and assisting builders’ to adopt our patented SuperSTOPPER Slab-Mount system. With passive fire protection historically being an after-thought in the building industry, this project highlighted what can be achieved with a well designed and executed passive fire protection system.

This case study highlights the support Trafalgar Fire provided to Buxton Construction’s Nelson Bourke Apartments project, in Ringwood, Victoria. The development, worth approximately $32 million, consisted of 111 residential apartments using Trafalgar Fire’s patented SuperSTOPPER Slab-Mount multi service transit system above the entrances to each apartment, to route all of the apartment’s services through one pre-installed opening.

The Challenge

The Trafalgar team appreciate that with anything new, additional time and care is needed. Trafalgar Fire’s technical and commercial teams supported the adoption of our SuperSTOPPER Slab Mount system by liaising with multiple stakeholders, including, the builder, the walling contractor, the service trades and the certifier, to educate on the benefits of the SuperSTOPPER Slab Mount system, in contrast to the more traditional methods stakeholders had previously used.

The Delivery

Trafalgar Fire’s technical team:

  • Initiated an all hands meeting, to ensure all stakeholders were aligned from the commencement of this project.
  • Were onsite during the first installs to provide any guidance and assistance needed.
  • Continued to support Buxton Construction during the installations, culminating with providing inspections prior to ceilings being sheeted.
  • Supplied over 100 SuperSTOPPER Slab-Mount for stage 1 of the project. Due to the success Buxton Construction immediately ordered over 50 SuperSTOPPER Slab-Mount for stage 2.
