Annually Trafalgar's Managing Director and owner, John Rakic, participates in organised marathon bike rides. Whilst keeping the old bugger fit, his passion for endurance rides has seen John raise thousands of dollars for charity.
John and the Team Trafalgar have completed the Mascim Sydney to Surfers Charity Bike Ride a few times now to help raise funds for Father Chris Riley's Youth off the Streets. Departing from Hornsby (NSW) and concluding in Southport (QLD) this is a 7 day, 1000km trip through wind, hills and windy roads. Along the way they stop and take in some of the country's big attractions.....like the Big Banana in Coffs Harbour!
In early 2016 John completed the Riding for Country Kids event. 400kms over 3 gruelling days from Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour to support and raise funds for Royal Far West.
In 2013 John completed the 3 day Zoo2Zoo challenge from Sydney Taronga Zoo to Dubbo Taronga Western Plains Zoo. Thanks to the sponsorship support from family, friends, Trafalgar staff and customers, John raised aproximately $10,000 for the Black Dog Institute. An incredible achievement. John will be doing this ride again in 2016.
In 2017 John will be peddling from Perth to Broome. Further details on this event to be published soon.
