Who are the players in the fire protection industry and what role do they play in fire protection outcomes? John Rakic, the owner of Trafalgar Group, explores this tricky topic in a 7-part LinkedIn article series.
"Just like the cladding and fires, waterproofing and our cracking buildings for example where things aren’t quite right, I think passive fire protection is one area that could use some leadership and a shift in paradigm."
After a lifetime in the construction industry, involved with the manufacture and supply of specialty building products with an emphasis on fire protection, John Rakic, the owner of Trafalgar group, has penned a 7 part (for now) article series, asking the question "Who is to blame?" when it comes to fire protection non-conformance.
Identifying the parties involved, and exploring how each has a part to play, John accepts there is a problem; that no one thing or group of people are at fault; and calls for everyone to come together to shift the paradigm to arrive at a solution, and better life safety outcomes.

Trafalgar accepts that as a manufacturer and supplier of passive fire products, we play an important role in fire protection compliance - be it through quality of manufacture, functionality of design, cost of systems, provision of training and installation guides and, of course, reliability and accessibility of fire testing.
To this end, Trafalgar continues to invest in Australian manufacturing, with much of our range manufactured locally in South Granville, NSW; this includes the fire rated access panel systems and FIREBOX™ range of fire rated Fyrebox™ systems. Other products not manufactured directly by Trafalgar, have been sourced or contracted to be manufactured by Australian businesses, for example FYREFLEX™ fire rated sealant systems, FYRESET™ fire rated mortar systems and FYREPLUG™ fire rated pillow systems. By manufacturing locally, Trafalgar controls the quality of the design and workmanship of the product and the customer service that comes with it.
Trafalgar invests in R&D with a robust fire test schedule to continuously innovate solutions for the industry. The technical team provides unrivalled support to the industry in terms of product selection, product training, installation guides, manuals and videos and on-site walk-throughs. There's always more room for improvement, and Trafalgar is dedicated to being an active participant in the shift in paradigm that is needed to create better life safety outcomes.
