Richard Crookes Constructions identified that the NCC requires all steelwork to be designed and certified for compliance with the steel structures code AS4100. YH Interiors engaged Trafalgar Fire for a solution to treat various structural steel members, Trafalgar COREX was installed, and the results speak for themselves.
Trafalgar COREX is a lightweight, high impact resistant, glass reinforced gypsum board designed to provide robust and reliable steel protection. It’s been approved for all structural steel applications including thin steel wall columns.
The Challenge
- COMPLIANCE
For their project to be compliant with the National Construction Code (NCC), Richard Crookes Constructions needed a fire stopping solution for various structural steel members. - LACK OF TESTING AND DATA
Other suppliers lacked the correct AS1530.4 fire testing and AS4100 regression data. There was also no warranty issued for the interfaces with other manufacturers’ steel protection systems. This issue was raised in the initial phases of the project, leading them to work off a fire engineered fire stopping solution.
